During this half term, much of our writing will be inspired by our history work on The Great Fire of London and the Paddington books by Michael Bond. Our writing will include newspaper reports, diary entries, postcards and character descriptions.

Here are some of the key areas that we will be covering over the next few weeks:

·       Identifying and describing the properties of 3D shapes.

·       Using mathematical language to describe position, direction and movement.

·       Interpreting and constructing simple graphs and tables.

Art and Design.

We will be doing a variety of different creative activities this half term including:

·       Making clay models of London landmarks

·       Pencil sketches of St Paul’s Catherdral using different grades of pencil.

The children will learn about the city of London. They will further develop their understanding of what a city is and consider how cities compare to towns and villages. The children will be introduced to compass direction and associated language.

The children will learn how to identify, sort and describe the properties of commonly used materials such as plastic, metal and wood.

History lessons will include the following:

·       Studying 17th Century and modern day images / maps of London and finding similarities / differences.

·       Researching the life of Samuel Pepys using a variety of sources.

Our current focus is ‘keeping safe’.

The children will begin to learn about block coding.

PE sessions will be led by Kits Academy

I hope this information is useful. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to drop me a message or speak to me on the playground.
